My research is to identify, present and test solutions to achieve transport-efficient circular flows of excavated rock and soil (mass) materials on construction sites. The solutions are found at the intersection between planning, policy, and construction logistics. Mass logistics has a joint problem area that needs to be solved by different stakeholders with different goals and focuses, which makes it difficult to unite their views. The goal is to present to the problem owners (private as well as public) different possible solutions, from the strategic level such as regional and municipal planning to the operational level such as logistics solutions, measurement of efficiency in flows and traceability of materials through the flow.
