I received my Master’s degree in Service Management and Supply Chain Management at Lund University in 2024. I am currently pursuing my PhD at the Division of Packaging Logistics (LTH) at Lund University and the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), Lund office.

My research addresses the inefficient handling of returns in e-commerce, which results in extensive transport volumes leading to significant greenhouse gas emissions and high product disposal. With the rise of e-commerce worldwide – predicted to triple by 2030 – and with returns accounting for 20–30% of all e-commerce sales, there has been more interest in returns management and ways to improve systems for early value recovery of returns which leads to greater circularity.

This research aims to investigate and understand the digital transformation of returns management, shifting the focus from seeing online returns as a necessary evil to a strategic priority. This not only benefits the bottom line for organizations but can be a strategic opportunity for them and the greater society through circularity.
